Isopropyl Myristate is an ester of isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid. It is valued as both an emollient and formulation solvent, particularly where a lighter, less oily skin feel is desired.
IPM can improve the spreading characteristics of oils and creams and help reduce the heavy or greasy feel associated with some vegetable oils and butters. It is also useful as a carrier and solvent for certain oil-soluble ingredients and fragrances.
